Encompass New Opera Theatre
Honors Jerry Herman

ASCAP composer/lyricist Jerry Herman was honored by Encompass New Opera Theatre at a gala event, held May 20, 2007 at the National Arts Club in New York. Herman received the organization's Lifetime Achievement Award to celebrate his musical contributions and accomplishments.

Herman, from Hello Dolly!, Mame and La Cage Aux Folles fame, is the only composer/lyricist ever to have had three musicals run more than 1,500 consecutive performances on Broadway.

His string of awards and honors includes multiple Tonys, Grammys, Drama Desk Awards, the Johnny Mercer Award, the Richard Rodgers Award, the Oscar Hammerstein Award, the Frederick Lowe Award, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Theatre Hall of Fame.

Encompass New Opera Theatre is dedicated to creating a new home for American opera and new music theatre.
