38 Children, 17 Countries, 1 Incredible Chorus
Pihcintu is a Passamaquoddy Indian word meaning "when he sings his voice carries far." Pihcintu is also the name of an immigrant children's chorus comprising 38 young people from 17 countries who all currently live in Portland, Maine. The chorus was founded by songwriter-producer Con Fullum, who wanted to make certain that children and other family members left behind in their war-torn native lands are not forgotten. Fullum wrote and produced a CD and a companion video, released in 2006, to raise money for Pihcintu's children to send back to the families, villages and orphanages from whence they came. This photo was taken at the Maine premiere of the Samuel L. Jackson film, Home Of The Brave, and features actress Victoria Rowell, co-star of the film, with members of Pihcintu. Currently, Fullum and Michael McInnis (a co-producerprogrammer- engineer and fellow ASCAP writer/publisher) are working on a new Pihcintu CD. For more information, visit www.pihcintu.org.
