The Waifs

The Waifs

The three Aussie talents in The Waifs are all self-taught musicians inspired by everything from family campfire singing to pop culture films like Back to the Future. The Waifs, composed of sisters Vikki and Donna Simpson and Josh Cunningham, independently released and toured behind their self-titled debut (1996), Shelter Me (1998), Sink or Swim (2000) and Up All Night (2004). They toured with artists like Kasey Chambers and Michelle Shocked and had festivals across America clamoring over their self-described "wholemeal" sound. Vikki recently picked up the Overall First Prize award and the First Prize award in the Folk category of the 2006 USA Songwriting Competition for the song, "Bridal Train."
