ASCAP members Jacob Cooper, Xi Wang and Stephen Wilcox were selected to participate in the weeklong seminars, mentoring sessions, readings and concert at the annual Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute in October. Osmo Vänskä (TEOSTO) and The Minnesota Orchestra performed the seven works of the composers selected for Composer Institute in the final concert, which was broadcasted and streamed live by MPR. Zhou Tian attended the Composer Institute the year before and as a result was commissioned to write a work for childrens' concerts, which was premiered during this year's Composer Institute. ASCAP's Cia Toscanini participated in a seminar, moderated by NewMusicBox.org's Frank J. Oteri, and hosted the ASCAP reception after the concert featuring works of Composer Institute Fellows.
