The ASCAP Foundation has been awarded a Summer Schools in the Arts grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for the 2006 Summer Music Camp at Manhattan School of Music. The NEA's Summer Schools in the Arts program raises the quality and availability of arts education in communities nationwide by supporting rigorous, challenging summer arts education programs that enable children and youth to acquire knowledge and skills in the arts, as well as gain lifelong interests in the arts and culture. The Summer Music Camp at Manhattan School of Music serves 125 musically talented New York City public school students, grades 5 through 8, from throughout the 5 boroughs by providing intensive musical training and performance experience that would not otherwise be available to these students. The ASCAP Foundation, Manhattan School of Music and New York City Department of Education have partnered in this model program since 1999. |
