Latin's Urban Revolution

SPK

Imagine being the best at your craft, respected by your peers and loved by the masses. That describes SPK, a producer extraordinaire, who arrives at his success after years of hard work and focus.

SPK quickly mastered and outgrew his role as the nicest DJ in the hood and began looking for another avenue to feed his creative juices. Soon, SPK was using a Gemini mixer to sample beats live, providing material for local MC's to rock on the mic.

Days spent at home learning the intricacies of beatmaking led to quick results, as SPK's prowess immediately became neighborhood fodder. "People started hearing about me really quickly, and before long I had all the hood coming to my crib to rhyme." Among the emcees coming by to check SPK at that time for tracks was the newly signed duo Capone-N-Noriega, who took a quick liking to SPK and his thug-tailored tracks.

In 2004, N.O.R.E. and SPK produced a song that made history by bringing reggaetón to the forefront through mainstream radio play and TV networks like BET and MTV. That chart-topping song, "Oye Mi Canto," went on to win an ASCAP Latin Award and a Premio Estrella Award.
