Latin's Urban Revolution
 |
Hailing from the eastside of Houston where he was born and raised comes Chingo Bling, also known as the Ghetto Vaquero and the Tamale Kingpin. The man who has everything from his own bobble head to coloring books to his own line of Air Chingo Boots, has created an enormous buzz in the music industry all on his own, largely from selling mixtapes out of the trunk of his car. With his accented rapping, Chingo began to perform and make mixtapes of parodies of popular rap songs that would leave listeners with stomach pains from their laughs. He focused his lyrics on how he grew up as well as how many other Mexicans like himself grew up. His audience was easily able to connect and relate to his lyrics and have a laugh while listening to his music. Soon his parodies were heard on radio stations and the buzz began to grow considerably. Chingo Bling has caused such a huge demand that he has put out 12 underground mixtapes. His first CD, The Tamale Kingpin, charted on Billboard's Top 100, a huge feat for someone many considered just a gimmick rapper out of Houston that would fade. His hustle and grind as an independent artist caught the attention of many major labels (Universal, Bad Boy Latin, Roc La Familia), national media (MTV, XXL) and has landed him national endorsement deals (Jose Cuervo). With his sombrero, Air Chingo Boots and iced-out chains and teeth, the Ghetto Vaquero's official album, due in late 2006, is destined to be a huge success and as Chingo himself would say, "Por Favor Beleeve It."
