Latin's Urban Revolution
 |
When a track jumps out at you, locks its jaws around your body and makes you want to shake, you've probably just been bitten by the hardhitting sounds and skillful wordplay of Alexis Y Fido, aka Los Pitbulls. Alexis Y Fido have been involved in the genre since the music was called "underground," and had yet to be identified as "reggaetón." Although discouraged to the point they decided to leave the scene, they returned to follow their special musical calling. Initially, Alexis Y Fido were on two separate roads that eventually merged and brought the duo together via their friends Wisin Y Yandel. On the compilation CD, Desafío, they tested the waters as a duo. Alexis is the aggressive one, inspiring audiences to go into a frenzy. He's also the one who came up with the nickname - Los Pitbulls - by barking at the end of their songs. Fido is the cerebral one, delivering the concepts. Joining forces, they saw the greater potential and power they possessed as a duo. They began performing and making appearances on every CD possible. Then the song "El Palo" catapulted them into the limelight in 2003. Next, on the Latin Grammy-nominated album, Mas Flow 2, by producers Luny Tunes, Alexis Y Fido established themselves as international superstars with the unleashing of "El Tiburón," an infectious song that took off right out of the box. Fido has since earned a name for himself as an accomplished beatmaker. While producing "Dale Caliente," "El Muro" and "No Me Dejes Solo" for Daddy Yankee, his production genius is also evident on their first Sony effort, titled Los Pitbulls, on songs such as the single, "Eso Ehh…!!!." Given their track record, this duo's hit-making machine is sure to produce more major reggaetón hits.
