The 21st Annual Induction Ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was held on March 13 at New York City’s Waldorf Astoria, and this year represented a wide range of rock pioneers. ASCAP members inducted this year included Blondie (New Wave), Black Sabbath (Heavy Metal) and Lynyrd Skynyrd (Southern Rock). In addition, ASCAP member Herb Alpert along with partner Jerry Moss, the founders of A&M Records, were honored for lifetime achievement in the non-performer category. Among those inducting this year’s honorees were fellow ASCAP members Shirley Manson and Metallica. In addition, Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint and Robbie Robertson were on hand to participate in a moving tribute to the legendary soul man Wilson Pickett.
