Salvadorian singer/songwriter Elmer Cortez (pictured), a recent participant in ASCAP's Latin Songwriter's Workshop in Los Angeles, has made his mark in Hollywood. The song "El Llamar de Pasion" written in part by Elmer Cortez and performed by Shani, made it to the big screen in the Academy Award-winning film Crash, the 2006 Oscar winner for Best Picture of the Year starring Sandra Bullock, Brendan Fraser and Matt Dillon among others.
