Formed in 1989 by band members looking for a different route to get their music to the people, Merge Records has become one of the most respected indie labels around. The North Carolina-based label has consistently put out respected releases from such bands as The Rosebuds, The Magnetic Fields, Buzzcocks and Teenage Fanclub.
