English Rose

Born and bred in London,
Molly Beanland is very British…
and very talented

From a very early age, London-born Molly Beanland immersed herself in music, singing along to tapes that found their way onto her bedroom stereo. When she was nine, her family moved to the rural idyll of Suffolk and bought an isolated house from 60's pop star Manfred Mann ("Doo Wah Diddy"). Molly loved the solitude and committed herself to music lessons and songwriting, loving the immediacy of being able to sing her new creations. At 12, she began singing lessons and then proceeded to master jazz and classical standards, all the time quietly crafting her own songs. As she discovered the music of The Smiths, Queen, New Order and Jeff Buckley, she developed her own style and bloomed as a writer. Although she eventually went to study at Cambridge University, one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world, she was soon offered a record deal with Island Records and the lure of pursuing her dream of a music career took center stage. As English as Jane Austen and with a voice as pure and true as some of the great British pop singers (think Kate Bush), Beanland, only 19, is set to unleash some beautiful music for people of all ages.
