Anti-Flag
Pittsburgh band Anti-Flag named itself so as a political commentary on the state of punk rock. Their name became a vehicle for politics and the state of youth, not just in America, but all over the world. Over the years since forming in 1993, the band has had a few lineup changes, but the message has remained the same. In 2000, they took part in the Warped Tour for the first time and met Fat Mike from NOFX/Fat Wreck Chords. This led to the releases of Underground Network in 2001 and Terror State in 2003 on Fat Wreck. In between albums in 2002, the band released Mobilize on their own Anti- Flag label. The subsequent "Mobilize For Peace" tour found the band traversing through Europe and back on board with the Warped Tour in the U.S. with their popularity quickly rising. A couple years later, they released a split LP with Bouncing Souls, capturing the attention of even more disgruntled youth. In 2006, Anti-Flag's latest and arguably its most politically-charged release, For Blood and Empire, found a home at RCA, and continues to express the band's frustration with the current state of world affairs.
