NEA Names ASCAP Composer's Works "American Masterpieces"
The National Endowment of the Arts has announced its "American Masterpieces: Three Centuries of Artistic Genius" project. "American Masterpieces" supports tours of performances and exhibitions that reach a wide range of communities in all 50 states. More than two million people are expected to attend the events in the form of top choral directors leading renowned choruses. A larger number of ASCAP composer's works were selected including: Dominick Argento, Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein, Harry T. Burleigh, Chen Yi, Aaron Copland, Brent Michael Davids, R. Nathaniel Dett, Jennifer Higdon, Moses Hogan, Libby Larsen, Morten Lauridsen, Norman Luboff, Gian Carlo Menotti, Alice Parker/Robert Shaw, Stephen Paulus, Ned Rorem, Conrad Susa, Randall Thompson, Virgil Thomson and Eric Whitacre.
