Jazz violinist Regina Carter's Quintet is featured at Rep. John Conyers Annual CBCF Jazz Event

Congressman John Conyers, Jr., Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, and Dean of the Congressional Black Caucus, hosted the 22nd Jazz Forum and Concert during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. in September. ASCAP served as the title sponsor of the Jazz Forum and Concert. Violinist and 2006 MacArthur Fellow Regina Carter was this year's honoree and featured performing artist. The concert also featured an exciting quintet led by New Orleans trumpeter Marlon Jordan. Jordan is the product of one of New Orleans great jazz families, headed by saxophonist and jazz educator Kidd Jordan. The concert was preceded by the Jazz Forum, which covered the topic, "New Orleans Jazz: A Post-Katrina Update." The artists were joined on a panel by Jackie Harris, director of the Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong Jazz Camp in New Orleans, and Dr. Gabou Mendy, who serves on the board of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation.
