Southern Backtones

This is not your typical indie rock. The Houston, Texas-based band Southern Backtones (Hank Schyma on vocals/guitar; Mykel Foster on bass; John Griffin on guitar and Todd Sommer on drums) play an exciting blend of raw Brit-influenced rock with roots planted firmly in Texas. The result is a southwestern feel reminiscent of Jim Morrison and The Doors but with an edge akin to early eighties Brit-rock powerhouses The Cult and David Bowie. Their new self-titled album rocks with both angry anthems and propulsive pop songs. Now Levi's has caught on to the band's sound and has picked their song, "Fallen Angel," for a national ad campaign.
