TAKING BACK SUNDAY

Taking Back Sunday

Putting Long Island back on the musical map, Taking Back Sunday brings a refreshing blend of rock to emo. The band has been around since 1999, when they first attracted the attention of indie label, Victory Records.

They released their debut full length, Tell All Your Friends, on Victory in 2002 to much critical praise. But even with such early buzz, the group could not avoid lineup troubles. Early in 2003, several members left, and they faced an uncertain future. But like most bands, Taking Back Sunday bounced back with new members, guitarist/vocalist Fred Mascherino and bassist Matt Rubano. Now as a complete unit, lead singer Adam Lazzara, guitarist Eddie Reyes and drummer Mark O’Connell were bound for imminent success.

After enlisting veteran producer Lou Giordano (Sugar, Goo Goo Dolls, Sunny Day Real Estate), the band’s 2004 sophomore effort, Where You Want to Be, released in Summer 2004, proved to be an eclectic mix of catchy songs that are consistently upbeat and emotionally aggressive.

With appearances at legendary venues while headlining the 2004 Warped Tour as well as their own sold out shows, and a North American tour with Blink-182 under their belt, it’s safe to assume this is exactly where they are where they want to be.
