The Prize of Winner of Defiance, Ohio (DreamWorks), directed by Jane Anderson and starring Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern, tells the inspirational story of Evelyn Ryan (Moore), a mother of ten children, who keeps poverty at bay by entering and winning jingle-writing contests in the fifties. A special screening of the film was presented by the SCL in Hollywood on October 11, followed by a discussion with music journalist Jon Burlingame, Anderson and Frizzell. |
