The National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters Fellowships were announced recently and the honor was bestowed upon two ASCAP members, singer Tony Bennett and clarinetist Buddy DeFranco. The NEA Jazz Masters Fellowships are one of the highest honors that the U.S. government bestows upon jazz musicians. These fellowships are given in recognition of this magnificent art form. Besides the designation, each honoree is to receive a fellowship award of $25,000 and an invitation to participate in broadcasts and the endowment's jazz masters tour.
