ASCAP Members Urged to Notify Society of Change of Address

We know many ASCAP members are on the move, literally. That is why we can't stress enough how important it is for you to notify ASCAP when you have a change of address. We want to make sure you continue to receive any royalty payments you've earned and announcements and correspondence from the Society.

The easiest way to change your address is to click here. You will view a PDF file that you must print, fill out, sign and mail or fax to ASCAP. For your own protection, change requests must be in writing and signed by the member, as no changes can be accepted by phone or email. For individual writer members, this means your personal signature is needed. For a publisher member, you need to have the signature of the designated representative as noted in ASCAP's records. If you you need to change both your writer and publisher address information, please submit one form for each.

2004 NYU/ASCAP FILM SCORING WORKSHOP
In Memory of Buddy Baker May 19-28, 2004
at the The Frederick Loewe Theatre

Following in the legacy of Buddy Baker, the 2004 NYU Film Scoring Workshop -- presented by The Steinhardt School at NYU Department of Music & Performing Arts and The ASCAP Foundation, Division of Film and TV -- will continue to offer the rich traditions of classical Hollywood film scoring. Dedicated sessions will address click tracks and free-timing, orchestration techniques, and conducting. In addition, MIDI mockups, a staple in today's scoring chain of production, will be featured. Participants will choose a clip from a number of varied choices. The workshop will culminate in the final days of recording sessions featuring New York's top-tier musicians. All previous workshops have featured players from the New York Philharmonic and The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

Application deadline, April 12, 2004

Recording sessions will be sponsored by the Neumann Microphone Company, and are recorded by 19-time Grammy nominated engineer JIM ANDERSON, Chair-Designate of the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music in NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Participants leave with a professional digital demo of their work. The workshop will continue to be taught by some of today's most creative composers and orchestrators: CHRISTOPHER YOUNG, MARK SNOW, DAVID SPEAR, and NYU film scoring faculty members SONNY KOMPANEK, DENIZ HUGHES and RON SADOFF. ASCAP will also offer two additional presentations on the art and business of film music.

For the benefit of auditors and participants, all faculty and participant interactions, lectures, and comments will be amplified and projected to large screens. Auditors will attend all proceedings, including the live recording sessions and critiques. All sessions of the workshop will take place in the Frederick Loewe Theatre at New York University's Steinhardt School.

Up to twenty participating composers will be accepted into this year's workshop. For further information, contact Ron Sadoff at 212-998-5779 or ron.sadoff@nyu.edu. Updated scheduling information and downloadable applications will be posted at: http://www.nyu.edu/education/music/mfilm/baker.html.
