Fernando Osorio En El Festival Sundance 2004

El departamento latino de ASCAP en conjunto con los departamentos de Cine y Televisión, Pop y Rock se presentó en el Festival de Cine en Sundance 2004. El departamento latino de ASCAP presentó al exitoso canta-autor Fernando Osorio. El evento se llevó a cabo en PLAN-B, un club situado en el Main Street durante la última semana del Festival. En las dos noches del show, Fernando Osorio se presentó con varios canta-utores de ASCAP: Dan Wilson, Teitur, Sweet Pea Atkinson & Was (Not Was) Quintet feauturing Don & David Was, Jon Brion, John Doe & Judy Wexler. La primera noche, miércoles 21 de Enero, tanto como la segunda presentación el siguiente viernes 23, estuvieron completamente llenas de música de muy diversas dimensiones. Fernando Osorio, con sus poderosas proyecciones vocales y lleno de pasión le llegó al corazón a todos los presentes, para probar, una vez más, lo poderosa que puede ser la música latina, que transciende más allá del entendimiento de la lengua.

ASCAP’s Latin Department, along side its Film and TV Music Departments, Pop and Rock converged on the city of Park Lake City Utah for this years annual Sundance Film Festival 2004. Featured by ASCAP’s Latin Department, Fernando Osorio took the stage twice during the second week of the festival; both showcases were held at the Plan B nightclub located on Main Street. Fernando shared the stage with his Anglo counterparts, and both proved that good music transcends all barriers, the nights were filled with music from diverse backgrounds, yet all had a common thread, that of enthralling all those present. Fernando with his innovative repertoire, his own personal way of telling the stories that inspire him and his passion infused vocal projections; swayed and filled the hearts of all those present. There sharing the stage with him January 21 and 23 were ASCAP’s Dan Wilson, Teitur, Sweet Pea Atkinson and Was (Not Was) Quintet featuring Don and David Was, Jon Doe and Judy Wexler.

ASCAP Visits Songwriters in Mexico

Roberto Rodríguez

Roberto RodrÍguez, director latino, productor y escritor de películas como Spy Kids, Desperado, Dusk ‘Til Dawn, y Once Upon A Time In Mexico, empezó el 2004 con una gran fiesta en Austin TX, para el lanzamiento del cd "Mexico and Mariachis." Se presentó con su grupo "Chingón" y el grupo Del Castillo los cuales dieron un show tremendo. Velia Zamora la representante de ASCAP en San Antonio estuvo presente para este evento.

ASCAP’s very own Latin film director, producer and writer, Robert Rodríguez, for Blockbuster hits such as: SPY Kids, Desperado, Dusk ‘Til Dawn, and Once Upon A Time In Mexico, kicked-off 2004 with a huge CD release party in Austin, TX. Robert Rodríguez is proud of his new cd entitled Mexico and Mariachis in which he wrote several of the songs. ASCAP’s recent signing, Del Castillo, performed along with Rodríguez and his group "Chingón" and gave an amazing performance. ASCAP’s regional representative from San Antonio, Velia Zamora, was among the guests invited to this grand event.

Yerbabuena en SOB's

El pasado 29 de enero se presentó en el club SOB´s de Nueva York el grupo Yerbabuena, nominado al Grammy por su disco "President Alien". El concierto se caracterizó por la excelente actuación del grupo, que hizo bailar al numeroso público presente que coreaba sus temas musicales con gran efusión.

The group Yerbabuena, who was nominated for a Grammy with its album "President Alien", presented itself on January 29 at club SOB’s in New York. The concert was characterized by the groups excellent performance, those in attendance were dancing and singing along in the isles.

Negronis Trío en el Satalla

El pasado viernes 6 de febrero se presentó en el Club Satalla de Nueva York, el grupo de jazz Negronis Trío, dirigido por el maestro José Negroni, miembro de ASCAP. La ejecución de este trío compuesto además por Nomar Negroni en la batería y Jaime Rivera en el bajo no sólo respira y comunica sinceridad, sino una gran belleza rítmica que hace bien asimilable su música.

On Friday February 6 th at Club Satalla in New York the jazz band “Negroni's Trio” directed by ASCAP writer member José Negroni on the piano, presented an incredible show. Nomar Negroni on drums and Jaime Rivera at the bass created a tight and powerful performance.
