Singer/songwriter Fernando Osorio has been receiving a lot of accolades lately. He was most recently awarded the Latin Grammy for Best Tropical Song of the Year "Rie y Llora" ("Laugh and Cry"), which he co-wrote with world re-knowned ASCAP producer/songwriter Sergio George, and was performed and made famous by the legendary Cuban artist Celia Cruz. CBS broadcast the 5th Annual Latin Grammy Awards domestically, and CBS Broadcast International distributed the show internationally, providing the telecast to an estimated 120 countries, live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on September 1st. The award comes on the heels of a year that has brought many good things to this Columbian-born, Venezuelan-raised Miami transplant.

He was recently named Best Local Songwriter of the Year by The New Times of Miami, and was a featured songwriter at these years Sundance Film Festival 2004 in Park Lake City, Utah. Featured by ASCAP's Latin Department, Fernando took to the stage twice during the second week of the festival, alongside his Anglo counterparts, both proving that age-old saying that good music transcends all barriers. Sharing the stage with him at Sundance were Teitur, Sweet Pea Atkinson and Was (Not Was) Quintet featuring Don and David Was, John Doe and Judy Wexler.

Fernando Osorio is by no means a newcomer to the Latin music scene, as this prolific writer has penned songs for some of the industry's most influential artists including: Ricardo Montaner, Sergio Vargas, Cristian Castro, Marta Sánchez, Jerry Rivera, MDO, Frankie Negron, and of course the late Celia Cruz, to name a few.

Aside from being a well-established songwriter, Fernando has also made a name for himself as a successful singer. With an innovative repertoire, his own personal way of telling the stories that inspire him and his passion infused vocal projections, Fernando is sure to make a hit of his next album, currently in the works, titled "Ganaremos" ("We Will Win").
