ASCAP event gives songwriters a local opportunity to reach industry professionals



ASCAP's Rhythm & Soul Creative Team packed the house at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica, California with another event in their successful SWAPmeet series. This SWAPmeet was hosted by Big Jon Platt, SVP of EMI Music Publishing, SVP of A&R Virgin Records and Montbello Records.

The venue was packed with songwriters, producers, artists, and lyricists waiting to get their music played for A&R reps, music publishers and music industry professionals who were also in attendence.

The SWAPmeet is a creative event designed to give songwriters a local opportunity to have their works heard by industry professionals, build a support group, provide introductions and make connections. Writers, producers and lyricists are given a platform to introduce and market two songs/tracks either via a CD or a live performance. Lyricists are also encouraged to use the event as a spoken word platform. It also gives them an opportunity to meet fellow artists to help encourage future collaborations.
