Cannes Do...

At this year's Cannes International Film Festival, ASCAP Senior Vice President Nancy Knutsen participated in two film music panels with composers Randy Newman, Angelo Badalamenti, the Hollywood Reporter's Ray Bennett, AF of M President Tom Lee and representatives from the Recording Musicians Association in Los Angeles, with whom ASCAP frequently collaborates on workshops, festivals and conferences. A special presentation of the inaugural RMA/ASCAP Harmony Award was also presented to Newman for his incomparable success and influence as a composer, songwriter and artist. In the left photo, Randy accepts the Harmony Award from Knutsen, and the RMA's Executive Publisher David Ewart. Hollywood Reporter Editor in Chief and Publisher Robert Dowling also participated in the presentation. Also pictured are EMI/London's Director of Film & TV Jonathan Channon, Knutsen and Newman celebrating his award on the Annheiser-Busch yacht, The Big Eagle, in the Cannes Harbor.

Flanders Film Festival

APRA In Australia

ASCAP's Todd Brabec and Nancy Knutsen attended the 2002 APRA Awards in Sydney, Australia in May. Among the many APRA members who received awards, ASCAP's Diane Warren was also honored for "Can't Stop the Moonlight" in the category of Most Performed Foreign Work. Brabec accepted the award on her behalf.

Cisac World Congress

The recent CISAC World Congress in London was host to many of the world's leading music creators and industry executives. Gathered at a Congress event are (l-r) Ireland's Paddy Moloney (of the Chieftains), American lyricist, ASCAP Board member and former ASCAP President Hal David, British record producer Sir George Martin and ASCAP CEO John LoFrumento. David served on the Congress's "Lobbying and Public Awareness" Panel and LoFrumento served on the "Technology Challenge and Consumer Models" panel.
