The International Music+Sound Awards, honouring outstanding music and sound design in the media worldwide, are back and officially open for entries!
For a second year, the international music and sound communities will join forces to stage this pioneering competition. Anyone from the worlds of film, TV, advertising or gaming, involved in the production process on a project they feel has been significantly enhanced by the music or sound are invited to submit their work and become part of this prestigious programme’s recognition of the indispensible role music and sound design play in the world of the media.
The categories fall into four main groups: Best Original Composition, Best Use of Existing Music, Best Sound Design and Best Use of Production Music. The awards will be building on the colossal success of previous competitions and this year’s successful entrants will join the ranks of such International Music+Sound Awards winners as The Hunger Games trailer (Pusher, composers: Stefania Ziliotto & Lorenzo Montana), Downton Abbey (Carnival Films & Television Limited, Hackenbacker) and the movies Brave (Cutting Edge Group, composer: Patrick Doyle) and Moonrise Kingdom (Imagem Creative Services, Music supervisor: Randall Poster).
A stellar panel of industry authorities such as Tree Adams (Composer: Californication, All Things Fall Apart), Loren Parkins (SVP, Executive Music & Radio Producer, BBDO New York), Mary Ramos (Music Supervisor: Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained) and Marshall Grupp (Sound Designer, Explicit Ills) will judge the categories.
The entry window will close on March 31st, 2014. More details and competition rules can be found on the awards site here.
The International Music+Sound Awards are the first and only worldwide awards programme to recognise and celebrate the indispensable role and outstanding contribution that music and sound design play in the world of visual and audio media. They were set up to establish the criteria and standard for international excellence in music and sound in this field.
In addition to a 2014 UK ceremony, our international programme will culminate in a celebration on the beach in Cannes next June.
Aimed at professionals working in film, television (branding and programming) advertising and gaming, the awards are open to anyone who is or has been involved in the creation, composition, sourcing, licensing, briefing and / or production of music and sound design for any visual media broadcast or released.
The awards categories have been created to include the widest possible use of music and sound in visual media. They invite entries from feature films, shorts, television programmes, television and cinema commercials, non-broadcast or viral advertising, branding and title sequences and computer games.
Each of these areas will be judged for: best original composition, best sound design, best sync/use of existing music and best use of production music.
