ASCAP Plus Awards

ASCAP Plus Awards

The ASCAP Plus Awards program provides cash and recognition to writers who create music with a value beyond the scope of performance surveys.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

The ASCAP Plus Awards program is available to writers who received less than $25,000 in domestic performance royalties in the previous calendar year. It rewards writer members of all genres whose works were performed in unsurveyed media as well as writer members whose catalogs have prestige value.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

To be considered for an ASCAP Plus Award, each writer must submit an online application via Member Access. The application must be submitted annually and reference achievements of the previous calendar year.

WHO DETERMINES AWARDS

ASCAP Plus Awards are determined annually by a panel of distinguished music experts who are neither members, nor employees of ASCAP, and are completely independent in their Award adjudication.

HOW AWARDS ARE DETERMINED

ASCAP Plus Awards are based on panel review of recent activity of writer applicants. Each applicant is considered on merit and in the context of all others applying. ASCAP Plus Awards is not a contest or competition involving the critical evaluation of any specific work or works. The primary basis for panel determinations is the activity generated by each member's catalog, with emphasis on recent performances.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: JULY 1

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Log into your Member Access account.
  2. Confirm all of your works are registered in My Catalog. If there are works missing from My Catalog, you should submit title registrations via Web Registration, allow seven (7) days for each registration to be processed and revisit Member Access.
  3. Activate direct deposit in the "Manage Statement & Payment Preferences" section of My Royalties. Direct deposit must be your payment preference to be eligible for an ASCAP Plus Award.
  4. Before you begin the submission process in Member Access, prepare a list of the appropriate work titles, Work IDs, release information and performance locations/dates so you can easily copy and paste the data into the online application. This will ensure you submit the application in a timely fashion (there is a 20 minute inactivity window for security purposes). Please note that you are not able to save your application at this time.
    • Work titles and Work IDs can be found in My Catalog.
    • Include the name, date and label for each release.
    • Include the venue name, city, date and performer name for each live performance.
  5. Complete the ASCAP Plus Award application in Member Access and submit the compiled information. ASCAP Plus Awards are made on an annual basis; therefore, report only activity which has taken place over the past year. DO NOT include information that was submitted in previous award applications.
    • Only submit releases and performances from 2011.
    • The date format must be listed as "MM/DD/YYYY" (e.g. 01/01/2011).

PAYMENT OF AWARDS

All awards will be paid in full in the January distribution.

* Please note: all information submitted for awards consideration is used solely within that context. It is not a substitute for registering works with our Repertory department or advising ASCAP of performances which may be credited through the normal distribution survey.
