Michael Yezerski (APRA)

Michael Yezerski

Film title:Newcastle
Director: Dan Castle
Section: World Narrative Feature Competition

Newcastle is Michael Yezerski's second full-length feature film score. His first feature, The Black Balloon (winner of the Crystal Bear, 2008 Berlin Film Festival), starred Toni Collette and Gemma Ward. Yezerski has provided additional music for several films including the Australian box office hit Kenny. In 2008, he will write The Red Tree with Richard Tognetti (Master and Commander), a major concert piece for the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Gondwana Voices Children's Choir. Yezerski has been awarded numerous prizes for his work including APRA-AGSC Screen Music Awards, an APRA Professional Development Award, a MusicOZ award, Gold Medals at the Park City Film Music Festival and the AFTRS Critics Circle Prize. He attended the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in 2002.
