Lois V Vierk studied composition at California Institute of the Arts with Mel Powell, Leonard Stein and Morton Subotnick, and Gagaku (Japanese court music) with Suenobu Togi at UCLA and Sukeyasu Shiba in Tokyo. Her music was recently presented in a Portrait Concert on German radio. Commissioners include Ursula Oppens, Frederic Rzewski, Margaret Leng Tan, Aki Takahashi, Guy Klucevsek, the Kronos Quartet, Lincoln Center Festival, Bang On a Can, Ensemble Modern and Music from Japan.
