Downtown Sounds
As the Tribeca Film Festival celebrates its 5th anniversary, the Tribeca/ASCAP Music Lounge joined in the festivities with day one of its 4-day showcase series. Performers included Nellie McKay, Lisa Hannigan, Josh Ritter, James "Blood" Ulmer and Rodney Crowell. The lounge, in its second year, offers a unique opportunity for filmmakers and music creators to meet and enjoy live performances and has become one of the highlights of the film festival. Lounge Continues and VIP Film Music Dinner Day Two carries on with outstanding performances by Lisa Hannigan, Tim Easton, Josh Ritter, Patty Griffin and Rodney Crowell. The day closed out with the Tribeca/ASCAP VIP Film Music Dinner that evening, an intimate dinner attended by film composers, film directors and producers, music supervisors and artists performing at the ASCAP Music Lounge at the Tribeca Film Festival. Tribeca Film Festival Founder Robert De Niro was a special guest at the Tribeca/ASCAP Music Lounge on Thursday, May 4. De Niro's wife, Grace Hightower De Niro, performed with Dan Manjovi and band in the first of an incredible afternoon of performances on day three of the music lounge. Following De Niro and Manjovi were Martin Luther, Patty Griffin and John Mayer, who kept the Canal Room club packed throughout the day. Click here for more

The Tribeca/ASCAP Music Lounge Goes Out with a Bang The final day of the 2006 Tribeca/Music Lounge presented an outstanding display of songwriting talent as well as final proof that the combined cultural forces of the Tribeca Film Festival and ASCAP, along with co-sponsor Saturn, provided the film festival with a unique and exciting musical component that was one of this year's most popular attractions for filmmakers and festival-goers. Performers for the grand finale included David Ford, Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint, Martin Luther, Kazi and the Hip Hop Project (who are featured in the film, Word.Life) and Brazilian Girls.
