ASCAP kicked off its week of SXSW activities at the Dirty Dog on bustling 6th Street in Austin, TX with its annual ASCAP Presents... Rock Showcase. A packed crowd took in a wide range of acts, while taking pictures in the photo booth and competing on the arm wrestling table.
ASCAP's presence at the SXSW Music Festival kicked into high gear on Thursday, March 15. In addition to co-sponsoring Filter Magazine's Cedar Street stage, ASCAP sponsored the Day Stage at the Austin Convention Center and presented live music by Stars of Track and Field, Martha Wainwright, Art in Manila and Land of Talk. Also, Todd and Jeff Brabec were featured on a panel and the ASCAP Hospitality Boat cruised on Austin's Town Lake, giving attendees an opportunity to soak in some sunshine.

Quiet On The Set Showcase
ASCAP closed out its SXSW with its ASCAP Presents… Quiet on the Set showcase of emerging songwriters, which included Quincy Coleman, Ronnie Day, AM, Robert Shields, Jessie Baylin, Jon McLaughlin and Reeve Carney. The evening at the Whisky Bar kicked off with a surprise special performance by the legendary Donovan, who performed a mix of classics and newer material. Donovan then returned to join Robert Shields for a song during his set. The evening was a perfect closer for an eventful SXSW 2007.

ASCAP and Filter Present... High Noon Day Parties at SXSW 2007 ASCAP and Filter presented their annual day parties at Cedar Street Courtyard in Austin, TX, for the 2007 SXSW Music Festival. Good music definitely prevailed over the three jam-packed days of music.
On Friday, March 16, ASCAP co-sponsored the Yep Roc Records' 10th Anniversary party at Habana's Annex in Austin. Performers included Heloise, Cities, Los Straitjackets with Big Sandy, The Moaners, John Doe, Robyn Hitchcock, Apples in Stereo, American Princes and more. The next day, ASCAP cosponsored Redeye Distribution's party at the Yard Dog Art Gallery featuring performances by Northern State, Nethers, Dirty Sweet, Rock Central Plaza and many more great bands. To top it off, ASCAP also co-sponsored the "Ballard does Austin" Party and the Australian Music Collective's "SXSW Aussie BBQ" featuring scores of great bands.
