University
University is a Chicago-born rock and roll band with dark, melodic pop sensibilities. Since their debut in December 2002, University has quickly established themselves as a band that is on its way to a promising future. They have played to large crowds at, among others, Chicago's Metro, Bottom Lounge, Schubas, The Note and Double Door. Coming off of their well-received debut EP, Make Believe (side a) in June 2003, University has upped the ante with the new release of Make Believe (side b) in June 2004. Currently, the band is playing shows in support of their new EP while writing and recording new material for future release.

We
Are Scientists
We Are Scientists, a.k.a. "the We Are Scientists," a.k.a. "W.A.S.," sometimes written "tW.A.S.," is comprised of singer-guitarist Keith Murray, bassist Chris Cain and drummer Michael Tapper. The band-s music is thoughtful, sometimes epic, often loud, vaguely danceable and implicitly of the humanist variety. The band was formed in 2000 in California, relocating to New York a year later. Since then, We Are Scientists have self-released three EPs, performed nationwide and are currently recording a full-length. When asked to describe their sound, they responded, "First there are melodies, some of them catchy. They can be found in the vocal lines and often, yes, god help us, the guitar lines. Second, and lastly, we try to have each instrument do something distinct from what the other instruments are doing as often as possible.

America
Is Waiting
America Is Waiting formed in the churning pit of the Austin music scene in the summer of 2001. Since its conception, the band has become unfashionably famous for its intense and explosive live shows. After years of careless consideration and constant touring, including tours with …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and Muse, the band has high hopes of completely selling out. They currently wish to become unabashed capitalists, more specifically affluent music-puppet-robot-whores. They have no problem selling their souls, their blood, autographed pictures, or playing to pre-recorded material, while dancing a choreographed routine. The band-s influences can most closely be identified with The Jesus Lizard, Drive Like Jehu, Nirvana, Shellac and The Melvins.

The
Glitterati
The Glitterati formed just two years
ago. Paul, Jon, Nic and Billy were
in different bands in their hometown
of Leeds. Jamie had moved down to
London. All had grown frustrated
by the limited vision of their peers.
But when the five came together
in a new band, everything clicked.
They shared a love of classic rock
-n- roll - The Rolling
Stones, Aerosmith, Guns N-
Roses - and a hunger to succeed.
They are The Glitterati. A rock
band so good that the producer of
Guns N- Roses- world-beating
album, Appetite For Destruction,
chose to work with them. They are
a band with self-belief bordering
on outright cockiness and who believe
they can be the biggest and the
best in the world.

Delegate
After Daron Hollowell-s hardcore band Four Hundred Years broke up, he did what most displaced songwriters do - he headed to the basement with a guitar and a four-track. The material that emerged was surprisingly different from Hollowell's past creative work, a collection of moody songs that became the basis of a demo Hollowell recorded under the name "Zetamale." Hollowell soon formed a new band and began playing shows in late 2002, later changing the band name to Delegate. Songs from the demo charted in the top ten on various college radio stations throughout Virginia, and high-profile shows with bands including Radio 4, stellastarr*, Metric, Ted Leo, Q and not U, and Girls Against Boys added to the buzz. Delegate eventually got the attention of the Neptunes, who are from the home state of Virginia, which led to slots opening shows for N.E.R.D., Franz Ferdinand, The Delays, Dogs Die In Hot Cars and Longwave.

Burning
Bright
It's not often that you find a person who gets to truly live out his or her dream. You get lucky five times with Chicago's Burning Bright. After playing in numerous bands since they were young, the members of Burning Bright have finally found what works for them. Their sincere approach to songwriting is a fusion of heartfelt and honest lyrics perfectly joined with evocative guitar hooks. Each song will etch itself deep into your memory after just one listen. Burning Bright formed a little over one year ago, but they have already completed numerous tours in the Mid-West and East Coast and have been diligently winning over fans without even releasing a CD.

Mute
Math
Get ready to meet a band whose understated elegance runs against convention in its challenge to make rock music new again. Mute Math embraces a songwriting style that combines innovation with classic sounds. Few artists could venture so deep into electronic influences and yet retain the organic rock feel that makes their music unique. Mute Math makes its commercial debut with Reset, an EP that takes a fresh look at rock music. Overall, the album embraces the art of sampling, but since most of the source material comes from their own organic performances, the songs emit the warmth that's lacking in most electronic-influenced music.
