ASCAP On-line Composer Spotlight

Ethan Gold

Ethan Gold

Film title: Adventures of Power

Ethan Gold, a songwriter, singer, performer and composer, has been an integral part of Adventures of Power - a film that is nearly a musical - by air drumming rather than lip-synching. Starting with a few famous rock songs, which the film licensed, Gold created a music experience for the film that fits the humor and strangely epic qualities of the story. He wrote, produced and performed about fifteen new songs for Adventures of Power in styles ranging from nĂ¼-country ballads to death metal to seventies rock to north-African funk, as well as writing the underscore to tie the tale together. In addition to scoring several shorts, Gold arranged and produced last year's critically acclaimed album Ash Wednesday from folk artist Elvis Perkins. Gold's songs have been used in a number of Sundance films (most recently Mean Creek). After the festival he will be putting the finishing touches on two "debut" solo albums, which he has worked on between his producing and composing projects. Gold also plays bass in the band the Honey Brothers.
