Florencia Di Concilio
Film title: Stranded
Born in 1979 to a family of musicians, Uruguayan pianist and composer Florencia Di Concilio started her musical studies in Montevideo, her hometown. In 1997 she was invited to pursue her studies at the School of the Arts of the College of Charleston SC on a full scholarship. In 2003, also under a full scholarship, she received a Master's of Music from the New England Conservatory in Boston. Upon graduation, Di Concilio studied composition and orchestration at the Paris Conservatory.
Di Concilio has composed and recorded the soundtracks to many independent films, including documentary films by directors Gonzalo Arijon and Bernard Debord for the Franco-German television station ARTE. She also scored a long feature film by director Juan Pittaluga for Canal +, a musical comedy directed by Yoann de Montgrand and produced by the FEMIS (the French state film school), and an art film by celebrated artist Camille Henrot for Jeu de Paume, the French national museum. She just finished working on
Stranded, directed by G. Arijon, for ARTE, ITVS (USA), and BBC (UK). The film won the Joris Ivens Prize, the top award at the Amsterdam International Film Festival, and competed at the 2008 Sundance Festival.
