Soundtrack to Sundance
ASCAP kicked off nine days of events at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival with the launch of its Music Café on Friday, January 19th. Filmmakers, actors, composers, songwriters and festival-goers packed the Star Bar on Main Street in Park City, Utah to enjoy the thrill of live performances of music from an incredible array of writers and artists.
The first three days of the Music Café featured performances by Alexi Murdoch, Rosie Thomas, The Bird and the Bee, Chuck Prophet, Eric Lewis, A Fine Frenzy, The Album Leaf, Michael Brook and Simon Townshend.
ASCAP also co-hosted a reception for Film Your Issue, which recognized the accomplishments of a group of young filmmakers who were winners of Film Your Issue's 2006 film competition.
As the snow fell, the crowds swelled and the industry began to buzz about this year's independent film offerings, ASCAP was in the center of the festivities, highlighting the important role music plays in the collaborative art of filmmaking.
