Café Buzz at Sundance
Songs, Snow and Stars
Judy Collins, Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion, Darrell Scott, Darren Hayes and Cody Carpenter shine at ASCAP's Music Café
ASCAP's Music Café at the Sundance Film Festival headed into its 4th and 5th day with stellar performance by both legendary and up-and-coming songwriters. Bruce Hornsby and Mike Doughty turned in two great return performances. Judy Collins, who has thrilled audiences with thoughtful and socially-aware folk music for more than 40 years, performed songs from throughout her incredible career. Grammy Award nominee and ASCAP Award-winning songwriter Darrell Scott performed a set of songs drawn from his five albums and songs that have been recorded by more than 50 artists.
Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion delighted the café crowd with beautiful harmonies and a great sample of songs from their new album, Exploration. Guthrie is the daughter of ASCAP member Arlo Guthrie and the granddaughter of folk music legend Woody Guthrie. Darren Hayes, formerly of multi-million album sellers Savage Garden, stunned the audience with his soaring vocals and passionate songs. And wrapping up another great series of performances was Cody Carpenter, who performed material from his highly-anticipated debut album, due out this spring. |
