ASCAP's Pop/Rock Membership Department kicked off the summer with a series of events in the Southeast leading up to some of the region's biggest music festivals.  Showcases and cocktail parties were held to coincide with the City Stages Music Festival in Birmingham, AL; Athfest, the annual music and arts festival, held in Athens, GA, and the Atlantis Music Conference in Atlanta, GA.

The events, which took place at Vinyl in Atlanta, GA on June 10, Workplay in Birmingham, AL on June 17, Tasty World in Athens, GA on June 18, and at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta, GA on July 22, were designed to provide ASCAP members with networking opportunities and to bring the talents of emerging songwriter/artists to the attention of both the music industry and the public.  The showcases featured some of the hottest bands from the Southeast region including All Tomorrow's Parties, Clay Cook, Laws Rushing, Red Letter Agent, Trances Arc, and The Whigs.

ASCAP has been a long-time supporter of music from the Southeast region and regularly holds educational panels, workshops and showcases to provide support and exposure for its members. Most recently, the Performing Rights Society held its first-ever Atlanta Membership Meeting where ASCAP President & Chairman Marilyn Bergman hailed Atlanta as the "fastest-growing music city in U.S."
