Woo-hoo! EXPO registration launched this week! One of my favorite parts about working the EXPO each year is watching the sparks flying between newfound collaborators, seeing those synapses firing, new connections being forged. There's nothing like thousands of potential musical conspirators to reinvigorate the muse!
Exhibit A: I present to you singer/songwriter Ryan Dilmore. Ryan is an exceptional writer, an ASCAP diehard, an alumnus of the Lester Sill Workshop and a longtime EXPO attendee. Here's the story he told me about his hilarious EXPO-themed Beatles parody "Atalia's Silver Hammer," which you will find below for your streaming pleasure:
"If you've been taking your gingko biloba you may remember a couple years back I briefly introduced you to a new Australian friend (Atalia) I'd made hours earlier at that year's ASCAP EXPO. She has been an awesome friend of mine ever since (One more success story in the adventures of ASCAP: How Ryan Dilmore Met Everyone He Loves). I have this 'gift' where famous songs swirl through my head with all new lyrics. Most recently is one about my Australian amigo and the fondness we share for that fateful ASCAP EXPO. You may laugh, you may cry, you may do neither of those things, but I'm sending you the song anyway just to show you how your generosity has led to awesome relationships, hilarious songs, and my sincerest gratitude."
So there you have it, folks! Ryan's story is but one of the countless success stories we've heard from EXPO attendees. And we're hoping you can provide the next one!
Register for the 2012 EXPO today. It's time to learn, connect and succeed.
