Just Blaze
Grammy-nominated super-producer Just Blaze is largely responsible for influencing the come back of sped up soulful samples since his contributions to Jay-Z's Dynasty (2000) and Blueprint (2001) albums. Just's recent collaborations with hip hop heavy hitters Jay-Z, The Game, P. Diddy and Fabolous have produced the knockout hits "Show Me What You Got", "Why You Hate The Game", "Tell Me" and "Return of the Hustle" respectively. Over the years, the prolific beat-maker has been called upon by the likes of Busta Rhymes, The Beastie Boys, Usher, Kanye West, Snoop, Mariah Carey, Jadakiss, Shyne, Lenny Kravitz, DMX, T.I., Fat Joe, Freeway, Joe Budden, Ghostface Killah and Nelly, whose work in 2003 earned Just his first Grammy nomination for producing "Roc The Mic (Remix)" on Nellyville. That year both Jay-Z and Cam'Ron were nominated for their performances on Just Blaze produced songs "Song Cry" and "Oh Boy."
In 2005, Just started Fort Knocks Entertainment and signed Saigon, a Brooklyn native of mix-tape fame. Saigon's The Greatest Story Never Told is the first time Just is overseeing the production of an entire album, which will be released in the summer of 2007. He has contributed tracks to various video game titles such as EA's NBA Live 2003, NBA Street Pt. 2 and John Madden Football to name a few. He has traveled to Japan several times on his own DJ Tour, has toured with Jay-Z on the "Roc The Mic" tour as well as Usher's "Confessions" tour and will be embarking on a European DJ Tour late this Summer. In 2006 he was a guest lecturer at the Red Bull Music Academy in Australia and recently he appeared on VH1's The White Rapper Show.
His upcoming 2007 releases include collaborations with Dr. Dre, T.I, Joe Budden and Talib Kweli among others. |
