Army
of Me
"Combine his mature
guitar playing with a voice that can
swoop and soar like Jeff Buckley,
bend an ironic melody like Thom Yorke
or Paul Kelly and carry a boxcar of
emotion like Morrissey, and Scheuerman
has the goods to take it to that proverbial
next level. In fact, he may already
be there, and it's the rest of the
world that's catching up."

Melee
Sub City's latest signing,
Orange County-based Melee, incorporates
these aforementioned elements to formulate
an album rich with songs that merge
the indie-rock sound with pop sensibilities
that will strike a chord with not
only the Hopeless/Sub City punk-based
crowd, but will also extend outwards
to fans of Rooney, Maroon 5 and Michelle
Branch. |

Madison
To see Madison live
is an experience as she is a born
performer who envelops you in a warm
ride and doesn't let go. The music
is a throwback to all that was original
in the 60's and 70's, with a modern
twist, guitar driven and upbeat, and
featuring Madison's unique use of
wordplay, visual descriptions, and
wry humor. |

Lucero
Grit and ache -- that's
one way to describe Lucero's country
rock sound. This Memphis band busts
out a country rock debut that ebbs
and swells, playing it both soft and
rough, behind singer Ben Nichols'
"monster truck growl of a voice."

The
October
On The October's debut
recording, Push Me Off the Side
of the Earth, frontman Dustin
Burnett wrote the songs, played all
the instruments, recorded, mixed and
mastered the music. The record is
packed full of huge choruses and up-tempo
songs, reminiscent of 80's new wave
and brit rock. |

Foreign Born
Seeing Foreign Born,
a four-piece rock band from Los Angeles,
is a cathartic experience without
any weepiness or melodrama. The songs
are often dark, sorrowful and catchy,
sometimes inspiring a dance-craze,
but always undeniably honest. |

Daniel
Pearl Music Day; October 8-17
ASCAP
President and Board Chair Marilyn Bergman
has pledged her support for Daniel Pearl
Music Day, a global network of performances
that uses the language of music to promote
Harmony for Humanity. From east to west
and north to south, people on all continents
and in dozens of countries will unite through
music on the third annual Daniel Pearl Music
Day - October 8-17, 2004. For those who
don't know, Daniel Pearl was an ASCAP member
and respected Wall Street Journal reporter
murdered by terrorists in Karachi, Pakistan
in 2002. He loved life and had a passion
for music, and Daniel Pearl Music Day was
established to promote that compassion and
