Michael Giacchino

Composer Michael Giacchino clinched the Oscar for his score to the animated Disney/Pixar film Up, which also won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

Giacchino has received numerous other industry awards for his Up score. They include two Grammys, both the Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards, as well as numerous Film Critics Awards (Austin, Chicago, Phoenix), and awards from the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Online Film Critics Society Association.

Accepting his Oscar, Giacchino related the story that when he was nine years old, he received his father's old movie camera. That began his movie-making career. He said he always received encouragement from his parents to follow his dream, and now he wants to inspire all kids to follow their hearts and chase their dreams.

ASCAP congratulates its winner:
