ASCAP hosted its 22nd annual Latin Music Awards on Tuesday, March 18th at the The Hammerstein Ballroom of the Manhattan Center in New York, NY. The star-studded event, which was attended by hundreds of songwriters, recording artists and music industry leaders, paid special tribute to Fania All-Stars and Daddy Yankee, and honored the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP’s most performed songs in Latin music in 2013.
Top awards were presented to:
- Songwriters of the Year: Romeo Santos and Andrés Castro
- Song of the Year: "Limbo" by Daddy Yankee; written by Daddy Yankee, Eliezer Palacios Rivera, Jonathan Rivera and Giancarlos C. Rivera; published by Cangris Publishing, Publishing and KOB WB Music Corp.
- Publisher of the Year: Sony/ATV Discos Music Publishing
- Independent Publisher of the Year: Mayimba Music
The legendary Fania All-Stars were honored with the ASCAP Latin Heritage Award. Trailblazing reggaetón songwriter and recording artist Daddy Yankee was honored with the ASCAP Voice of Music Award.
