ASCAP CONGRATULATES ITS LADY OF SOUL WINNERS AND NOMINEES

ASCAP’s Missy Elliott and Erykah Badu were honored at this year’s 9th Annual Lady of Soul Awards,
which took place at the Civic Auditorium, Pasadena on Saturday, August 23, 2003.
The Lady of Soul Awards are held annually to honor the accomplishments of female recording artists.

Missy Elliott picked up awards for Best Song and Best Music Video for “Work It," while Erykah Badu took home awards for Best R&B/Soul Single Solo for "Love of My Life," and the prestigious Aretha Franklin "Entertainer of the Year" award for outstanding achievements in the field of entertainment.

Our congratulations also go to ASCAP songwriter Andre Harris for his song “Say Yes” (performed by Floetry), which was honored in the Best Single By a Group category, and to ASCAP songwriters Peter Lord Moreland and Vernon Jeffrey Smith for their song “He Is” (performed by Heather Headley) which was honored in the Best New Solo Artist category.
