David Guidi is an ASCAP award-winning composer whose compositions have been premiered by numerous professional and academic ensembles at such festivals as The Montreux Jazz Festival, The North Sea Jazz Festival, and The Ravinia Festival. His latest compositions can be heard on Beachside, the recently released recording by The David Guidi Quartet. World-renowned saxophonist Bunky Green reviewed Beachside, stating: "David Guidi is a work of art and progress," and that, "He represents a complete stylistic whole."
In 2001, David was one of twenty-three young artists selected from across the nation to attend The Steans Institute for emerging jazz artists in Chicago. While there, he had the privilege of working with some of today's finest jazz educators and musicians, including Dr. David Baker, Nathan Davis, James Moody, Danilo Perez, and Rufus Reid. David has also performed with such notable artists as Dave Brubeck, Terry Gibbs, Dave Holland, Barry Manilow, Ellis Marsalis, Chris Potter, Tito Puente, and Clark Terry among others. Originally from Saint Augustine, Florida, David is a graduate of both The University of North Florida (B.M. Jazz Studies) and Florida State University (M.M. Jazz Studies.) He currently teaches at The University of Texas at Austin as a doctoral teaching assistant in the music composition department. He has served as a clinician, adjudicator, and saxophone instructor in the Austin and Round Rock, Texas public school districts since moving to Austin in the summer of 2003.
