ASCAP Members Receive Multiple Nominations for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards

Mary J. Blige Leads with Eight Nods

The 49th Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 11, 2007. The show will be broadcast on the CBS Network at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). The nominations for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards were announced Thursday, December 7, 2006 in Los Angeles.

Mary J. Blige tops the list with a total of eight nominations. Among other ASCAP members with multiple nods are: Dixie Chicks, John Mayer, Danger Mouse, Prince and Rick Rubin with five each, and Beyoncé, Gnarls Barkley and Justin Timberlake with four apiece.

ASCAP members Joan Baez, Ornette Coleman, the Doors, the Grateful Dead and Bob Wills will receive The Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. Stephen Sondheim will be honored with The Academy's Trustees Award.
