U2 DOMINATES 48TH GRAMMY AWARDS WITH FIVE WINS

The Chemical Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Damian Marley, Les Paul, Leonard Slatkin and Stevie Wonder Win Two Awards

The 48th Annual Grammy Awards were held on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. U2 (PRS) dominated the Grammys winning five awards, a high for the night. U2 won for Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Rock Album. The Chemical Brothers (PRS), Kelly Clarkson, Damian Marley, Les Paul, Leonard Slatkin and Stevie Wonder each won two awards. Record Of The Year was won by Green Day for "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams."

This year's special merit recipients included Chris Blackwell (PRS), who received the Trustees Award, and The Weavers, got the Lifetime Achievement Award. Additionally, James Taylor was honored as MusiCares Person of the Year.
