Imani Winds
Imani Winds is a 21st Century wind quintet whose virtuoso performances are unencumbered by limitations of convention or style. Founded by ASCAP composer/flutist Valerie Coleman, Imani explores the possibilities for the wind quintet, stretching the genre with power and passion. Founder and Artistic Director of BMOP, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project
Dedicating himself and his band of young professionals to reasserting the orchestra's historic role as an exponent of contemporary culture, Gil Rose has made the music of the 20th, and now the 21st century, central to the mission of BMOP. Through his creative vision and innovative programming from Zappa to Zemlinsky, in ten short years, Rose and BMOP have built a cheering audience for new music. Wherever they perform in concert halls, opera houses or clubs, under his leadership and inspiration, the BMOP is a band of engaged young players performing with enthusiasm at the highest standards.
