A Knight To Remember at London's BRIT Awards
Sir Paul McCartney took to the stage at the annual BRIT awards, held at London's Earls Court on February 20, 2008, to collect the highest honor of the evening the special prize for Outstanding Contribution to Music. He treated the 8,000-strong crowd to a 15-minute live performance of songs that included "Live and Let Die," "Get Back," and "Lady Madonna," but it was "Hey Jude" that turned the entire audience into the former Beatles' back-up singers.
2007 was an amazing year for Kate Nash who secured the UK number one slot for her debut album,
Made of Bricks, and won the BRIT for Best British Female.
Previous BRIT award winners The Arctic Monkeys picked up two awards for British Group and British Album for their platinum album,
Favourite Worst Nightmare.
The UK's most successful band reunion is most certainly Take That. They were on hand to collect gongs for British Live Act and British Single. Their winning single, "Shine," was co-written by ASCAP writer Steve Robson whose other credits include songs for Rascal Flatts.
Hot off their double Grammy wins, American rockers Foo Fighters claimed prizes for International Group and International Album for
Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.
Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue performed her latest single "Wow" and collected the award for International Female Solo Artist.
Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, his wife Sharon and children Jack and Kelly hosted the event.
