Jay-Z Leads ASCAP's 2007 BET Hip-Hop Awards Nominees

ASCAP members are among the nominees for the 2007 BET Hip-Hop Awards, which were announced September 14, 2007. The awards pay homage to urban music artists at the top of their game.

2004 ASCAP Golden Note Award honoree, Jay-Z, was nominated for four awards including Lyricist of the Year, while two-time ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Songwriter of the Year, Timbaland, received a nod for Producer of the Year. ASCAP members with multiple nods also included 50 Cent and Ludacris with three each, and Diddy, Outkast and UKG with two apiece.

BET will also honor legendary hip-hop artist KRS-One with the "I Am Hip-Hop" icon award. An ASCAP member since 1988, KRS-One is known for his politically and socially conscious raps.

The second annual awards show will take place on Saturday, October 13 at Atlanta's Civic Center.
