This is my first time using the web registration system, and I can not log on. Why am I getting an error message indicating that I am entering an invalid m-code or password?
If you are a first time user, a web registration account must first be activated. In the left blue box, click on the words "ACTIVATE YOUR TITLE REGISTRATION ACCOUNT!" to activate your account, then complete the information on the "ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT" screen. Make sure that your name is keyed exactly as it appears on your ASCAP membership card or royalty distribution statement. The system is looking for the exact match of your ASCAP membership code and your name. For example, if you joined ASCAP using your first name as Jonathan but you try to activate your account as John, the system will not match the name with the membership code. Make certain that a password is created and saved. Be sure to choose one you will remember. After reading the Terms of Use, click on the box that confirms that you have read the Terms of Use. Then click on "Save & Continue."
I want to submit additional titles, but I have forgotten my password. Do I start another account?
There is no need to start another account. Simply click on "Forgot your password?" on the registration home page. Enter the membership code of the account that you had previously created. The password that was established when the account was created will be sent to the e-mail address that was provided to ASCAP at the time the account was created.
Can you walk me through a registration?
Please log in to Title Registration and watch our online video tutorials. The videos will walk you through the registration process step by step.
What information is needed to log on to the web registration system for the first time?
In order to activate your web registration account, you will need the following information:
- ASCAP membership code. Please note: If you are both an ASCAP writer and a publisher member, you will only need to activate one account in order to register works.
- Your membership name (for either your writer or publisher membership which corresponds to the appropriate membership code) as it appears on your ASCAP member card or royalty distribution statement.
- A password, which you will create. Be sure to choose one you will remember.
- An active e-mail address.
Why can’t I activate my account?
There are a few reasons why you may not be able to activate your account.
- Your account begins with number zero (0). Omit the number 0 and enter the value for your account starting with the first number greater than 0 (i.e., 0123456 should be keyed as 123456).
- The name field for a writer member allows for 30 characters in the last name and 30 characters in the first name. The name field for a publisher allows for 60 characters. If your name exceeds the total number of available characters, please key the first characters up to the maximum and use this as your member name for your web account.
- You are getting an error message regarding your password. Make certain that a password was created and saved. After reading the Terms of Use, click on the box that confirms you have read the Terms of Use. Then click on Save & Continue.
How do I revise information such as writer or publisher name or shares on a title that I have already submitted?
You can only submit a revision through the web to a work that was originally registered by you online. To revise either the entitled party or share information for a work originally registered through the web, click on "View/Edit an Existing Title" on the navigation bar; click on the appropriate screen title on the location bar; edit as appropriate and click on Submit. If the change(s) you submit instruct(s) ASCAP to delete an entitled party other than yourself or reduce the share of another entitled party, ASCAP may require signed correspondence from that party confirming the change.
I need to change my member information, how can I go about doing that?
You may log into Member Access and submit changes to your account (ex: Address, Contact Information, General Profile Information).
I need specific changes done to a work in my catalog that I didn’t register. How do I edit this work?
Changes to a work(s) in your catalog that was not registered by you as a writer or your publisher should be submitted as a "Member Service Inquiry" through Member Access. You will be assigned an inquiry number and notified when the changes have been updated.
If I have both an ASCAP writer and publisher membership, do I have to register titles twice?
Titles should only be registered once. Avoid creating any duplicate registrations that may require manual intervention and delay processing by using one primary account. If you are both an ASCAP writer and a publisher member, you may choose one account to register titles. ASCAP recommends that the publisher membership be used if you are the publisher of the work. If your work is not self-published, it is preferred that the work be registered only by the publisher representing your interest. If you wish to submit a registration in this instance, you should do this through your writer membership account. Keep in mind that if your publisher has already submitted a registration, your registration is a duplicate and may require manual intervention that will delay the processing of your work.
I forgot my member number. Can you please send me my number?
Because of our privacy policy, we cannot give you your member code by email. However, your Member ID can be found on your ASCAP Membership Card or on an ASCAP Royalty Statement.
