Malik Taylor, the rapper who contributed to the influential 90's Hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest as Phife Dog, died yesterday at the age of 45. Born and raised in Jamaica, Queens, Taylor met his childhood best friend, longtime musical collaborator and bandmate, Q-Tip, at age 2.

Daryl Coley, one of gospel music's most beloved male vocalists, passed away on March 15th at the age of 60. The unique beauty of his voice and his ability to synthesize many genres and styles in his work earned him exceptional admiration.

ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul team and Global Grind presented a spectacular lineup of artists at its SXSW showcase in Austin, Texas on Tuesday night, March 15th.

ASCAP is proud to announce its lineup of events for the 2016 SXSW Conferences & Festival. This year’s schedule features three official ASCAP showcases, featuring a crop of emerging ASCAP talent. Also on deck are the annual ASCAP boat cruises.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame will welcome ASCAP songwriting titans Elvis Costello, Marvin Gaye, Tom Petty and Bernard Edwards to its ranks in June. Each inductee has left an indelible mark on the world, and continues to inspire countless songwriters.

ASCAP honored Motown Gospel artists Tasha Cobbs (6X Stellar Award nominee) and Brian Courtney Wilson each with the first-ever ASCAP “Power In Praise” Award.

ASCAP Grammy nominees, execs and friends gathered at the SLS Hotel to kick off Grammy weekend with cocktails and great music. R&B star Jazmine Sullivan, a triple nominee, performed soulful versions of her nominated songs; nominees in attendance included Lee Ann Womack, James Fauntleroy, Dave Bassett and Jake Gosling.

Three Grammy-winning talents join the 11th annual ASCAP EXPO lineup, which takes place April 28th - 30th, 2016 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles.

The nominations are in for the 31st Annual Stellar Awards, to be held February 20th at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, and many ASCAP members have received nods. Anthony Brown leads with 10 nominations, Erica Campbell has 8 nominations, Tasha Cobbs has 6 nominations and Jonathan McReynolds has 5 nominations.

The 18th Annual Sundance ASCAP Music Cafe runs during the daytime from January 22 - 29, with a fresh mix of rising and recognized talents curated by ASCAP.

On Friday, November 20th, ASCAP Atlanta held its "Check It Out" series at Patchwerk Studios. This edition featured panelists Curtis Daniel (Co-Owner of Patchwerk Studios), Dvante Black (Grammy Nominated Mastering Engineer), Charles Conner (Manager at Timeless Ent.) and Sean Pen (Major Music Producer/Songwriter).

From Ariana Grande's performance of “Focus” to Justin Bieber literally making it rain, the 2015 American Music Awards were filled with ASCAP superstars and their music. Our members won eight categories in the fan-voted awards, another reminder that ASCAP members write the most beloved music in the world.
