The Collective workshop focuses on the development of a select group of songwriters & producers. It features prominent music industry professionals leading an exploration into the art of songwriting. Submission deadline is Friday May 8th.

The 30th Annual Stellar Awards were held March 28th, 2015 at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas and ASCAP members came home with great triumphs. Congratulations to all our talented ASCAP members who won Stellar Awards this year!

Break Bread is the Rhythm & Soul Departments's invite-only series of networking luncheons held with the purpose of fostering relationships between writers and producers. On March 25th, a few writers and producers gathered at our New York office to share a meal and their music with one another.

Hit country songwriter Walt Aldridge and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter Alonzo “Zo” Lee will participate in the ASCAP Songwriter Residency in St. Louis, a partnership with America SCORES. The Residency provides a platform for songwriters to inspire public school students in under-resourced neighborhoods.

With a diverse lineup of fresh, young R&B and hip-hop talent and a packed house the entire night, ASCAP Rhythm & Soul team’s opening-night showcase felt like the best backyard party you’ve ever been to. It was a perfect way to kick off SXSW.

ASCAP will host several exciting events, including three diverse “ASCAP Presents…at SXSW” showcases, at this year’s SXSW Music and Media Conference in Austin, TX.

With GRAMMY weekend in full swing, ASCAP welcomed its nominated songwriters and composers to its annual GRAMMY Nominees Brunch. In the stylish setting of the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills, guests gathered to eat, drink and toast this year’s honorees.

Andraé Crouch, a pioneer of contemporary Christian music, died yesterday in LA after suffering a heart attack. A renowned gospel performer, songwriter and choir director, Crouch had a transformative influence on contemporary gospel, and is credited with beginning to bridge the gap between black and white Christian music.

The ASCAP Songwriter Residency continues in New York this year with R&B songwriter/producer Andrea Martin, Grammy and Emmy-nominated composer/songwriter David Wolfert and producer/songwriter Johnny Blk. The Residencies give ASCAP songwriters a platform to give back to their local communities by engaging and inspiring inner city students through songwriting and recording.

As a cast member a hit TV series, R&B singer-songwriter K. Michelle was already known and loved by millions when she celebrated her blockbuster album, Rebellious Soul, by headlining The Rebellious Soul Tour late last year and opening for Robin Thicke on his Blurred Lines Tour at the beginning of this year.

R&B singer-songwriter Goapele has built a career out of singing the truth like only she can. On her new album Strong As Glass, Goapele worked with new collaborators and sounds for a stronger, more vulnerable album than anything she's done before. Watch her explain how she created Strong As Glass, and what she hopes you take from it.
